White kitchens are on the way out.
This article from Zillow listed white kitchens as the number 1 thing that may not bring you the return on investment you think it will, when you sell your home.
Well, I have been preaching this for years. The all white kitchen with the shaker cabinets and subway tiles is about the most boring (but safe) thing you can do. That being said, I want to deliver what my client wants and almost 80% of the time, white is what they want. It’s hard to step outside of your comfort zone and cabinets are a big investment so here is a tip: Use paint to “change it up” instead of doing a light or white paint color, opt for some drama and choose a dark tone.
Remember, there is not a lot of wall showing in a kitchen anyway so go for it! You can always paint over it if you decide it’s not for you.

An example of a kitchen with darker walls. She’s not afraid of color and I love it!
